Vertical Blind Measuring Guide

WHEN MEASURING FOR YOUR BLIND ALWAYS USE A STEEL TAPE MEASURE

STANDARD WINDOW

Several points should be considered before you decide where you want to fit your blind!

• Where will the bracket fit?
• Will the blind be fitted inside or outside the recess?
• Decide what type of blind you will be fitting?
• Does the window open inward i.e. tilt and turn?
• Will you be able to open the window when the blind is fitted?
• Will the window handles, or any other items e.g. telephone sockets, tiles etc obstruct the blind?
• Is the recess square or does it splay? (See diagram below).

Follow the instructions below when measuring. The instructions are designed for easy reading. Please read the appropriate instructions depending on your choice of blind and where you want to fit it.

RECESS SIZE

Measure inside the recess width at the top where the headrail will be fitted, keep in mind your bracket will need to be fitted away from the window frame and any protrusions, use the guide below; Measure the DROP in several places, Very important you order the blind to the smallest drop.

If you order your Vertical blind at Recess size we will reduce the measurements as follows: Width by 6mm/ ¼" Drop by 12mm/ ½".

These allowances allow your Vertical blind to operate within the recess.

BLIND SIZE

If you order your Vertical blind to be made Blind size we will make the blind, including the components, exactly to those measurements. The width measurement will be from the edge of the control to the end cap, the drop measurement will be from the top of the bracket to the bottom of the hem on the louvers.

NOTE: We do not use hem to hem as a measurement.

OUTSIDE RECESS

If your Vertical blind needs to be fitted outside a recess the Blind size required must be larger than the recess, this is to gain as much privacy as possible. Measure the width of the recess and add 150mm/6" on each side of this measurement so the Vertical blind will overlap the window. Next measure the drop of the recess and add 200mm/8" on to this measurement so the louvers will overlap the window.
